As we look back at the high school wrestling coaching career of Gaylord High's Jerry Lajoie, he put the Blue Devils program on the map.

From the beginning to the end, they dished out many of the best wrestlers in the state.  Now, high school girls' wrestling is taking off in the Mitten.  One Blue Devil made school history, right before LaJoie retired.  Sunni LaFond became the first female wrestler in school history to win the state championship.  She defeated Grand Haven's Gracey Barry to take the girls' 115-pound title.  Last year, LaFond lost in the state finals, and she didn't forget about the heartbreak.  The Blue Devil says it made her motivated to get better, and that hardwork took her to the top.
